Can CBD help with digestion?
The short answer is YES!
Remember how our bodies have cannabinoid receptors? Well, because a lot of digestive issues are caused by inflammation. CBD is an anti-inflammatory, so it makes sense how it can ease symptoms of things like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Do you ever experience digestive upsets when under high levels of stress and anxiety? CBD can help stabilize your moods, especially if CBD oil is taken daily or before stressful situations, which would calm your digestive upsets as a result.
What about gut motility?
Another cool thing CBD oil can help with is gut motility. Gut motility is a simple way of describing how the muscles in your GI tract stretch and contract to digest food. If any muscles or nerves in your GI tract aren’t functioning properly, you can experience diarrhea, constipation, cramping, and bloating.
CBD promotes healthy gut motility by calming cannabinoid receptors in your GI tract.
How much CBD do I need?
The amount of CBD needed will vary from person to person, but starting with 15-25mg of CBD per day is helpful. If you don’t find you are getting enough relief, try increasing an equal dose so you are taking 15-25mg in the morning and at night. In more extreme cases, you may need up to 50mg two or three times a day.
CBD in those higher amounts is still safe, so you have a lot of opportunity to try lower and higher doses until you find what works best for you.
